Creating a Report with Charts

To use Charts and Gauges with the reports in the SQL Server Reporting Services. This is  step-by-step process on how to use the Charts and Gauges.

In the left side menu we can see the number of controls available out of which we will use Charts and Gauges controls for this tutorial. Just drag and drop one chart control and two gauges control to design our report. First drag and drop a chart control. This will open a window requesting to select the type of chart as shown in the screen below.

  

Select the appropriate chart type and click on OK button. We can now see the chart is added to the report designer window as shown in the screen below.

Now drag and drop 2 gauges control on to the designer view. Once we drop the Gauges control on to the designer view, again a new window will open requesting to select the type of gauge as shown in the screen below. Select the appropriate gauge and do the same for the second gauge as well.

Once we drag and drop the controls on to the designer view, we will see the report designer window as shown in the below screen.

  

Now we need to configure the controls. First let’s configure the Chart control. Click the Chart control. A small popup will appear requesting for the fields as shown in the screen below.

  

Now select the appropriate fields for the chart control from the list and we can see the result overview as shown in the screen below.

  

Next, we need to configure the gauges control in the same way as we did in the charts control as shown in the screen below.

Once we are done with the configuration, we can build and execute the project by clicking on the RUN button or pressing F5 functional key. 

Once the project is built successfully, we can see the reports being generated with the charts and gauges as shown in the screen below.
