[TABLEAU] Creating Joins

Creating Joins

Tableau supports relational joins without having to create a view table. The following instructions below to get started joining tables.

Step 1

Select the data source in the Data menu, and then select Edit Tables. In the Tables dialog box, click Add Table.

Step 2

In the Add Table dialog box, select a table to add to the schema.

Step 3

Select the Join tab, and add one or more join clauses by selecting a field from the original table, a field from the added table, and an operator. Then click Add to add it to the list of Join clauses.

Step 4

When you finish defining your joins, click OK.

Notice that the schema is organized by tables, so you can easily identify where each dimension and measure came from.

Note : When you select a table to add, you can optionally modify the Table Aliases and Field Aliases in the Add Table dialog box. Additionally, you can choose to exclude fields from the schema by selecting the check box next to each field alias that you want to include. Only the selected fields are shown in the schema
