[TABLEAU] Placing Multiple Measures On A PIE Chart

Placing Multiple Measures on a Pie Chart

In Tableau, you can apply filters to the pie mark on the Marks card to create a pie chart.

Step 1
Open a new workbook and connect to the Coffee Chain sample.

Step 2
On the Marks card, in the list, select Pie.

Step 3
From the Dimensions pane, drag Measure Names onto the Filters shelf.

Step 4
In the Filter dialog box, clear the check boxes for all the measures you do not want to include in the pie chart. For this example, clear all except COGS, Marketing, and Total Expenses.

Step 5
When finished, click OK.

Step 6
From the Dimensions pane, drag Measure Names to the Text and Color shelves on the Marks card.

Step 7
From the Measures pane, drag Measure Values to the Size shelf on the Marks card.

Step 8
Drag the right and bottom edges of the view to enlarge the space for the pie chart, then on the Marks card, drag the slider to increase or decrease the size of the pie chart.

To display the chart without the "Drop field here" notations, place it on a dashboard.

Step 9
Select Edit > New Dashboard.

Step 10
From the pane, drag Sheet 1 onto the dashboard.
